La Roche posay redermic R review.

I’m sorry Effaclar duo plus

I never believed this could happen but, scoot over.

Hello, redermic R. An amazing ,amazing product. I found this in walgreens one evening when I was terribly hungry for samples. There was this screen supposed to test your skin but it wasn’t working .

So I asked,’now this screen isn’t working how do I get samples?’ Lady offered me her sample drawer. . I went back home and tried it. My brother did too and then we went back for more samples ..

Don’t judge me for doing that but this is just too fabulous for words.

Lipohydroxyacid and retinol In one tube. My acne disappeared. Of course I always have acne , ~♤> why?

I don’t stick to my routine despite how much i preach. Once my skin is clear I start sleeping with just washing my face and no exfoliants.

I have big plans for wipes.

lazy people should get lazy skincare too.

This product  cleared my skin up. Throughout summer I had these pesky breakouts which happens whenever I am not overdosing on vegetables and so I was struggling with treating them. Benzoyl peroxide wasn’t working and that happens sometimes. My skin was just acting up. Redermic R sorted me out in 5 days flat and let’s not start on sunburn.

For every regimen dealing with hyperpigmentation, a retinol always makes sense. This worked for my brother as well in that regard. Marketed as an antiaging treatment, this does far more than treat aging skin.

It made a difference for my acne and if you have adult acne, have struggled to find a lasting solution,  then perhaps you can ask for a sample of redermic R at a beauty counter , I know walgreens for one stock lrp. I gave my second sample to my mum and she did notice a marked difference in the skin around her eyes which are darker due to broken capillaries from allergies.  If you can’t find a sample, invest in a full sized treatment.  Buying retinol is always a good decision. It will always work.

This has 0.3% retinol and is the highest I’ve seen without a prescription. Roc retinol cream used to be the highest..

Redermic R also has adenosine which works to reduce the inflammation expected with such a high level of retinol. LhA which I think is la Roche posay miracle acid is included to provide cellular clean up and exfoliate skin cells. It costs a whopping $58 for full size but this will always be value for your money. Not a single bad review and if you are desperate for your skin, say hello and purchase here. la Roche pay site for america

Unfortunately for blog readers in Nigeria, this cannot be found in any shops here. I think we are too obsessed with skin colour to realise that aging is also an issue and healthy skin costs more than whitening milk and Arabic half caste cream. If you are interested, I can help you preorder this. Retinol is widely avaluable without a prescription here and you can get at pharmacies as retin A.

I will do a bigger post on the value of retinol in your skin care but  try it for now and thank me when that post is out.

It will set you back at least 5000 naira but trust me that would have made one of the best skincare decisions of your life.

Have you ever used a retinol product before ? Did you know that retinol is the miracle product for wrinkles and aging ? Did you know that using retinol from age 25 along with sunscreen daily will ensure you don’t get crows feet and fine lines  ?

Well, wait for that post but drip your gist herein the meantime.

Treating acne- pimples.

It’s really simple if you know the science behind it.

When you realise however that almost every company making skincare products knows the science and starts out with it but sometimes you don’t get desired results for reasons I’ve mentioned in a previous post.

Then again,  that’s why I take the pain to review almost every product I use,  from testers to full size just so you do not make that mistake of buying something with right reasoning but a little flawed.

Now, for people with acne,  a lot of your options depends on your age and scarring as well as other associated conditions of your skin.

Nothing replaces a dermatological assessment and nothing replaces a carefully tailored skincare regimen after consultation.

A general rule for a skincare regimen is the basic 3

  1. Wash
  2. Toner
  3. Treatment

You must follow these steps to see any improvement in your skin.

This means you have to use these 3 steps as building blocks for whatever regimen you want to follow.

Other steps can be added as mini rituals to the 3. Whatever you put on your face is either cleaning it, toning it or treating it.

WashING is so important. This is where clogged pores start and not with oil production as is regularly touted. If you produce enough oil to fry stuff on your stuff but you wash it away, does it cause any harm in the end ? No.

Okay. Starting carefully I don’t advocate all that use of oil free cleanser and blah blah because your skin will only become drier and then produce more oil.

Don’t believe that oil free hype.

A wrongly formulated oil free wash will set your pocket back and keep you with breakouts intact.

Does it really matter ? Yes,but not as much as you are led to believe. I’ve used a lot of these items and believe me , its not that serious.

Wash your face with even the simplest of simples. A bar soap .. liquid soap is always better because it covers more areas.

In this regard, there’s a fabulous brand whose facial soap is to die for. It doesn’t smell like what you would think soap should and I don’t mind ebcause fragrance doesn’t do much to help your skin. It’s ecopantryskincare. Check out their facial bars here and even though it will set you back a bit, you’re getting more bang for your buck Instagram link. Try their facial bar soaps. Then there’s a whole lot of natural soap artisans on social media now and this gives you options. Suggestions are to go for charcoal and tea tree soaps. Charcoal will lift dirt and tea tree will kill bacteria. Perfect right ? Yes!

I love dettol soap for people who are on a budget and who need to choose one or two serious items to focus on in their regimen.

Wash your face of all makeup and all dirt acquired during the day. Dettol has a lovely even tone soap with apricot bits. I say dettol because it has antibacterial agents in it. This helps to kill the bacteria lying on the skin waiting to get into the pores. The idea of washing is to get the surface dirt off and perhaps if you can afford some thing more, move up to a specific acne or facial wash.  Always look out for exfoliants  in your wash. I listed them out in the post on facial washes.

If you use makeup and cannot afford to get micellar water or a blend of oils for oil cleansing then I suggest a tub of shea butter some  of  which you rub some on your palms and then on your face with hands then wash, makeup comes off real easy. Do not use coconut oil for this business. It doesn‘t have enough natural acids in it to perform this function.  Shea butter is cheap and is everywhere.  Remember it has to smell nutty.

Toning is a very important step and this alone can help you beat breakouts. Many people skip this step but please, Don’t .

An acid based toner is best. I will address this rose hydrosol and other hydrosols used for toning. If you have problem skin, please skip the drama and keep it for after you have treated your skin.

Hydrosols are good when you have sorted out your main issue. Witch hazel is also a good toner  but if you have acne skin, do not run away from the truth. You need that acidic based toner to slough off cells and open your pores for whatever treatment , serum, hydrosol you eventually use to work.
Alcohol based toners are not the devil.please do not regard them as so. Alcohol dissolves the oil in your pores and if you cannot afford pixi glow then why will you allow your face become a crater ?

Please and please, use a  toner.

Diy formula will be up soon.

Swish and swipe with Cotton wool repeatedly until you get clean wool.

Last step is to  Apply treatment.

This could be benzoyl peroxide, retinol or any other fancy item you please.  There is no diy swap for this one, invest your money in your skin.

good products are not always the expensive ones.  Do check out This post on acne creams a list of products you can use.

Pimples/acne solutions -choosing a toner and why

Why do you need a toner ?

Why is it that most persons whin suffer the most acne don’t use a toner ?

This is what you need to know about a toner. Sometimes called an astringent , toners help to do a number of things on your skin.

They help to open up closed pores further after washing.

They help to return the ph of your skin from alkali me after soap to a neutral ph which is the basic ph of our skin.this is why most toners are acidic in nature.

Some toners help to seal open pores after treatments and some toners also help to calm irritated skin, reduce inflammation and prepare skin for a treatment , cream or serum that will sink into the pores.

This is why it is important to use a toner if you have acne because without your pores open, and unlogged your products will get in and block the openings preparing you for more breakouts.

Your choice of toner will depend on the problems you have with your skin or what you try to achieve with your skin.

  1. If your concerns are for acne, something  with salicylic acid is best. The concentration would range from 0.5% to 2% -clearasil ultra rapid action pads, alba botanical acne dote deep cleam astringent
  2. Homemade toners like acid cider Vinegar work on the same principles of applying acids to help exfoliate and further clean out pores on skin. Vineat contains a weak acid which is naturally derived from apples.
  3. For aging skin with imperfections, Glycolic acid from 2% to 5% -pixi glow tonic and glow peel pads, dr.Dennis gross peel pads.
  4. For skin damaged from sunburn and creams, Glycolic acid and a mix of other acids as well as herbal constituents to calm the skin is useful. – examples -pixi by petra glow tonic , play herbal active with snow petal
  5. For dry and flaky skin, a herbal hydrosol of rose or lavender essence will calm itching and camomile will reduce inflammation buy rose hydrosol from organic life plus. At least I’m sure of that brand.

When choosing a toner, it is important to see a dermatologist or cosmetolgoist at least once for an assessment of your skin. This will help you to make a choice as to what type to buy and know what your skin really needs.

Not all skin that has acne is oily skin. can have acne too the pathologic process is just different but the end mechanisms are the same.

If you had to scrimp on any part of your regimen for skin, it shouldn’t be your toner.

As always, the products listed above are just a guide..

When we have concluded the talk on various parts of a simple 3 step regimen then we will go on to extras.

What toner do you use and do you like it ? Does it work for you ?

Have you had acne problems and what did you do to help it along ..

Alba botanica acne dote review

I review a great find in a retinue of facial toners worldwide.
I say worldwide because when it comes to toners there isnt such a wild market for them.
They arent so many if you ask me.
I bought this toner from marshalls in the usa and I havent readily found this brand in nigeria on our shelves.
Alba botanica is an all natural line kf skincare products without parabens, pthalates and other known skin irritants.
This contains salicylic acid at 2%, witch hazel and thats about it.
Comparable to my trusted clearasil pads I found this to be a very good toner.
It doesnt clear out marks as quickly as I would like but it certainly works.
It dries out acne flat.
It is one of the best toners I have used in my life.
I am not mincing words with this.
It also has some alcohol so it will sting a bit but listen, if it deals with my acne and it has alcohol I do not mind.
The breakouts have been over the top of recent its unbelievable.
This acne dote helped out a whole lot and now.i have emptied the bottle I regret shipping its replacement by sea.
There will be bottles of acne dote at skinplusng calabar.
I love it that much.
When it is good, you dont have to talk too much.

Alpha H micro cleanse mini review

First look at this product I was completely filled with curiosity.
its funny how I forgot I ever owned it after that.
Alpha H is one brand I almost feel owns the patents to glycolic.
If you haven’t tried their liquid gold, you should if you’ve got problem skin and anti-aging issues.
A good substitute would be the sleek neuskin reveal and neuskin reveal more!
Stumbled across this picture while going through my gallery.
It was a soothing cleanse and it took makeup off fairly enough at the end of the day.
I’m beginning to think everyone needs a makeup remover like miscellar water first before using a cleanser because you don’t get much out of a wash on extremely makeup filled skin.
I noticed things work better for me that way.
I’ve incorporated a miscellar cleanse pre wash.

The alpha H has little particles in it which I suspect is the rice bran.
We all know how beneficial rice water is and how many vitamins it contains.
Think of this as a natural infusion of that goodness.
It has glycolic acid so it’s worth your while if you have acne prone skin.
I loved it and I’m going to buy another – after I’ve tried out like one million more face washes.
So my verdict?
I love it.
Look out for alpha H cleanse and the liquid gold in the pop up.

Eucerin Dermopurifier cleanser/face wash Review

Eucerin is a brand we know for catering to dry skin, atopic skin quite adequately.
They launched a new range of products and these include
An antiaging line
A range for acne prone skin
A range for babies.

I got a number of stuff from escentual- eucerin products to try out.
The main one was this I’m reviewing today.
The dermopurifier

Eucerin says–
Light foaming soap free
Remove excess sebum from skin
Gently removes dirt particles and makeup
Reduces bacterial growth
Provides noticeably unblemished skin without irritation
viaibly clearer complexion
Prepares skin for ensuing skin care regimen
Can be used to accompany medical therapy.

Sodium cocoamphoacetate – alpha tenoside
Propylene glycol – organic people don’t like this.
Sodium laureth sulfate – supposed to be soap free
Citric acid
Salicylic acid – anti acne agent
Sodium chloride- good old salt
This short ingredient list is a very good thing.

Instructions as per video on website
lathering your hands with warm water, apply then massage face, rinse, clean.

What I think-
The wash came nicely packaged in a plasic bottle with a tip cap that adequately contained the product while travelling
A bottle has 200mls of product
The cap is a bright green colour, rather nice for cheering up in the mornings.
I would have preferred a clear see through bottle though to enable one monitor the product quantity.

The formula is gel and thin.
It runs easily.
A very little quantity is required to lather up your full face and I found myself using water first unlike what I do with other washes.
I don’t follow instructions.
Each time I use a wash, it becomes a mask.
5minutes and then bath.
It is quite slippery.
There’s a tendency to get this in your nose and anywhere else.
I spread excess product on my chest and decolletage- key to avoiding breakouts there.

Skin feels amazing after you wash.
Not tight
Not stripped
Just right
It takes makeup up nicely too.
You could skip miscellar water before this.
It’s that good for taking makeup off.
So gentle and effective
there little left dirt after this

The downside though is that it didn’t control my breakouts.
With salicylic acid right at the bottom of the minimal ingredient list ( a plus if you ask)
It’s likely it has 0.5% which is perfect for sensitive skin and ensures your face isn’t dried out.
It however means that for a breakout always person like me, step 2 in your regime which is toner has to be fool proof.
They however state on their website that it is designed as part of a routine.
It is not an all in one.
I did run out of my holy grail salicylic pads while testing this and ended up with 3zits and two more after that.
I love this cleanser all the same.
It isn’t often you find something that takes all your makeup and grimy face off without stringing your skin along with it.
It’s a pampering luxury wash and I recommend it for oily skin that doesn’t really deal with lots of breakouts .
If you’ve got those nitty little zits this would be perfect for you.
For combination skin as well, I don’t think you’ll go wrong.
An unexpected use for this was adding my glycolic acid bath salts to a portion of it.
It formed the most amazing union in a bottle and I’m doing good things with the result

P.s you’ll really be tempted to use this as shower gel as well.
By all means indulge like I do.
It’s absolutely soothing and I didn’t expect less from Eucerin.
In all,
I rate this a 4.5 /5
Minus half mark because I broke out and because it needs a nicer bottle.
